Fulwell Infant School Academy (Map)
Tyne and Wear
Fulwell Infant School Academy has Healthy Schools Status and has a policy of promoting heathy eating, as well as a healthy lifestyle.
School provides a cooked lunch freshly prepared on the premises by our cook, Mrs Tanaszi and her excellent staff. It is provided free of charge for two courses. Drinks of juice are also available. A menu for the week is on the school notice boards and is also published in Saturday’s Sunderland Echo. We currently have a ***** rating for food hygiene (2016).
The menu’s are served on a rota and are attached here.
As nursery children have to pay for their meals, the charge is £2.00 a day. Cash collection is on Mondays. Dinner money should be brought to school on Monday mornings by your child in a named purse or envelope. Parents can also pay by cheque weekly, or half termly in advance. Any uneaten meals will then be credited to the next half term. Unfortunately, if a sick child is sent home after 10am, we cannot refund lunch money as the meal preparation will have already begun.
We are proud of achieving our Healthy Schools Status. We have a strong commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle and our Food Policy and Physical Activity Policies are available on request.
We work closely with our School Meals provider to support healthy menus and healthy initiatives e.g. food tasting sessions. Food issues are taught in school through cross-curricular work, such as the Year 2 “Funnybones” topic.
GOVERNMENT FRUIT SCHEME
All children are offered a piece of fresh fruit every day as part of the Government Fruit Scheme. Please sign the relevant forms if you wish your child to participate in the scheme.
We encourage the children to drink water throughout their day in school. Children can bring named water bottles into their class. Water fountains are also available in school.
